Do you want to have a small greenhouse, but don't want to pay $300-$1000? The good news is that you can build one; it isn't hard to do, it isn't expensive, it is neat, and best of all, it works.
What you will need:
14 8' one inch PVC pipe
2 PVC + joints
6 PVC T joints
4 PVC L joints
2 rolls plastic sheeting
Connect 2 of the 8' pvc pipe to opposite ends of a T joint. Repeat this with another T joint. Do the same with the two + joints. This should give you four straight struts, connected in the middle by either T joints or + joints. Cut 3 of the 8' pvc pipes in 2' lengths. Connect the 2' lengths to the center of the struts, so it goes from a T joint on the end, to a + joint, to another + joint, to a T joint on the end. Do the same thing on the ends of the struts, except the end piece should be an L joint, to T joint, to T joint, to L joint. You should now have sort of a rack, with 4 struts connected by 3 braces, one on each end and one in the middle. Stake one of the braces on the end...you can use cut lengths of pvc pipe for this, the goal is to prevent it from moving. Now, with some help, push the other end bracing toward the staked end. PVC pipe is flexible, so if you do this carefully, you will end up with a bowed shape, like an inverted U. Stake the other brace. Now, with help from your helper, place the plastic sheeting over the frame. If you overlap the groundside edges, you can weight it down with rocks, decorative bricks, etc.
You now have a greenhouse! From start to finish, most people can make one of these in about 2 hours, and they do not need to have mechanical aptitude. If you wish, you can enclose one or both ends, but it usually isn't necessary. This will make one greenhouse about 8' long, 4'-5' wide, and about 5' high (this depends a little on how much of a bow there is.) The plastic does not need to be clear...opaque is fine, just don't use black plastic, as that will cook any plants that are in it. The greenhouse is easy to dismantle at the end of the year, and it is reusable, though you will probably want to replace the plastic sheeting. It will break down in the weather. I'd recommend using some sort of racks, such as bricks with boards laid over the top, laid so that there is an isle down the center, for placing your plants on. This will keep the plants off the ground. This is actually a large greenhouse if all you have is a small garden space, or just want to grow herbs. Note that the more enclosed it is, the more you will want to put buckets of water in the greenhouse, to increase the humidity. If you enclose both ends, the plants that are inside can dry out very quickly if there is no water.
