Encouraging outdoor play in your children is great. They learn to enjoy the outdoors, get them away from the television and increase gross motor skills.
Here is a selection of the best outdoor toys to encourage your children to learn and have fun.
1) Slide and Swing Set
Every back yard needs a slide and swing set for your children. Encouraging fun and learning, using swings, slides and see saws that teach your kids how to swing and climb. If you have a large family, the kids can play together so it also encourages turns and sharing.
2) Sand Pits
Teaching young children textures and how to create using sand is fantastic for their imaginations. Make sure you provide a shady covering and plenty of toys that they can use to dig and build and squash. Encourage your children to dig and construct using buckets and spades. You can get some fantastic sand pit toys that allow your child to sift and sort through the sand. You can also provide some water so your child can create moats around their castle.
3) Trampoline
Trampolines provide hours of fun for children from 4 and above. They can jump and do tricks and have a lot of fun and laughter. The newest design in trampolines has a netting surrounding them so your child cannot jump off and hurt themselves. They also now contain a revolutionized design by having no springs so hair and fingers can't get caught. This is another outdoor toy that must be purchased for your child.
4) Water guns or Bubble Guns
Great for the hot summer weather coming up. Encourage water or bubble guns for your children, and you to run around the backyard and play as well.
5) Eesy Peezy Monkey bar set
This was a great toy that I purchased throughout the year that encourages your children to climb and play. It encourages them to swing, hang upside down and to stretch and crawl through the narrow divides. It is situated outside and looks like a play gym; it also has a see saw incorporated into its design. This is a great accompanying toy to go with a swing and slide set to encourage climbing and gym activity in your children. This style comes with anti rust design, so is safe to leave out in the weather.
6) Inflatable Jumping Castle
Although these have been all the rage, I would suggest these are a toy that is only bought out for special parties and birthdays. Depending on the style, design and size an inflatable jumping castle can be very expensive. Some of these come with little slides and ball pits to add to your child's enjoyment. They are blown up with air with a pump provided, they have sturdy material that cannot be torn easily and are an item that every child will love.
This is by far not an exhaustive list as I can include some of the bikes, trikes, swimming pools, pool toys and grass water slide toys. You can also have play houses and cubby houses in your backyard. Consider what your child enjoys participating in and encourage their gross motor skills by providing climbing structures. You can also encourage their imaginative play by using play houses and cubby houses.
One thing I do know for certain, is that it's not only kids that use and have fun on outdoor toys designed for kids. So get ready to jump on that Trampoline with your child too.
